Everything You Need To Know About the Statue of Unity, India – the Tallest Statue in the World

Statue of Unity is situated in the state of Gujarat in India and has been built to honour the great Indian leader Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. The Statue was unveiled in 2018 and has been making headlines ever since its unveiling. While Gujarat itself is enjoying an increasing count of visitors in the past five years – with the Great Rann of Kutch and the Gandhi circuit as its biggest crowd pullers, the state’s tourism gets a mammoth boost with the unveiling of this statue.

Here are, in brief, a few major reasons why you must visit this monument:

1] Visible from space

Not many manmade objects are visible from space. The Great Wall of China, for instance, has been spearheading the Asian list for years. Now comes India’s supersized statue that has dwarfed (and quite literally so) many a monument in the world.

2] World’s Tallest Statue:

If Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building, the Statue of Unity is the planet’s tallest statue. In every sense, it is an iconic attraction and, as per the latest statistics, enjoys over 20,000 visitors every day. It stands at a mammoth 182 m and is incredibly tall in every sense.

3] Mind-boggling Cost

The statue required a behemoth investment and, as per figures, nearly 3,000 crore were spent over it. No doubt, the statue is an unparalleled marvel. Close to four years were required to carefully engineer and build the statue. More than 3,000 labourers were deployed and over 300 skilled engineers masterminded the entire project.

4] Twice as Tall as Statue of Liberty

Statue of Unity is not just the tallest statue in the world. It beats America’s famed Statue of Liberty by a huge margin and is 23 metre taller than its Chinese rival (the Spring Temple Buddha Statue).

5] Viewing Gallery at a Good height

It is not that you, as a visitor, need to watch the statue from the base. It has a viewing gallery too and that is at an impressive height of 153 metre. The statue, in no uncertain terms, is a great human feat.

6] Tourist-friendly

The statue had been Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s big dream. Under his initiative, the statue has been built to commemorate Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. At the same time, Mr. Modi has ensured that tourists flock to Gujarat to witness the creation. Hence, everything (right from ticket-pricing to a separate viewing gallery to a museum) has been set up to give the visitors an unforgettable experience.
